Dr. Robert Poovey, Artistic Director/Conductor Robert Poovey is Director of Music at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Rochester, New York. Position he has held since August of 2007. A native of Greensboro, North Carolina, he earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Organ Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music in 1989, and holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in organ from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and Southern Methodist University, respectively. From 1995 to 2006 he served as Director of Music Ministries at historic St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Atlanta, where he developed a varied, innovative and active music program involving some seven groups, with an emphasis on intergenerational involvement. From 2006 to 2007 he was Project Director for Casavant Frères, one of the leading pipe organ companies in North America. Dr. Poovey has served on the Liturgical Commissions in the Episcopal Dioceses of North Carolina, Olympia (Western Washington State) and Atlanta, and also has been on the faculty for the Leadership Program for Musicians Serving Small Congregations, a two-year course of study that leads to participants' receiving The Presiding Bishop's Diploma in Church Music. With appearances from the East Coast to Hawaii to his credit, Dr. Poovey has maintained an active performing schedule, and he maintains active memberships in The Association of Anglican Musicians, The American Guild of Organists, and Early Music America Julie Ruhling, Accompanist Julie Ruhling is currently an adjunct instructor of piano at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) where she also accompanies student and guest recitals. She is a former accompanist for the RIT Singers and also free-lances in the Rochester area. She earned her Master of Music in Piano and Literature from the University of Notre Dame, and her Bachelor of Music in Piano Accompanying from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
